Introducing Caitlyn Campbell – A credit to credit control

How long have you been with the company?

I joined the company in February 2022 as a regional sales executive, but quickly found that my role developed into helping out in multiple aspects of the sales process. Rather than just focusing on my domestic customers I was helping in admin tasks, processing tasks, retail sales and domestic sales!

I’ve recently moved over to the Credit Control Department as maternity cover for a colleague, with the opportunity for growth into a full-time role, with time and training.

Can you share a little about your educational and professional background before joining our team?

Tate Oil has literally been my first full-time job, I came into the role with little working experience but a passion to learn and develop a professional foundation. I studied Applied Science, Health and Social Care, Art and Core Maths at sixth form at PHGS and started working at Tate Oil within the year of passing my A-levels. The job was supposed to be a stepping-stone between A-levels and a future career however, I’ve discovered a passion in Credit-Control, which I otherwise wouldn’t have known about.

What are your primary responsibilities in your current role?

My days in Credit Control are always busy and never the same. We have to manage our accounts to ensure payments are made, following payment terms which are agreed upon the opening of an account. This can sometimes be just contacting customers and taking payments, or helping to set up and manage payment plans.

We also perform many admin tasks such as; processing new account applications, running credit checks, adding delivery sites, opening and closing accounts, processing payments, etc.

Beyond your work, what are your hobbies or interests?

My two biggest hobbies/ interests are travelling and video games. A lot of my friends I met online, and through gaming have become very close. As we are all from different countries, we like to travel together to new places and explore new cultures and ways of life.

How would you describe the company culture at Tate Oil

One of my favourite parts of working at Tate Oil is the teamwork in the office. Between both departments I’ve been a part of, the sales team and the credit control department, everyone helps each other out where needed. Since we all have strengths and weaknesses, we bounce off each other to resolve problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Have you experienced any career growth or development opportunities at Tate Oil?

As mentioned previously, this is my first full-time job and first step into the working world. I started in sales and my main role was to assist my colleague Annette with the Retail Petrol Stations side of the business, to help it grow and to be a secondary contact for our retail customers, alongside managing my domestic customers and helping out with many admin and processing tasks where needed.

This set me up for my recent move over to Credit Control as maternity cover. This move has given me a chance to learn a new role, and set me up for a future career in credit control.

What do you hope to achieve in the near future?

I hope in the next couple of years to gain enough on the job experience to take additional, relevant courses and gain qualifications in credit management.
