What is Adblue and why do I need it in my diesel engine?
Adblue is a clear, non-toxic, and non-flammable liquid that is used as an emissions control additive in diesel engines. Adblue is a trademarked term for a solution of urea and deionized water, which is injected into the exhaust system of diesel vehicles to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are harmful pollutants.
There is a separate tank on the vehicle to store Adblue, the clear fluid is injected into the exhaust system through a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, which converts the NOx into nitrogen gas and water vapor, which are harmless.
In most cases, vehicles that require this fluid are equipped with a warning light or message that will alert the driver when the Adblue tank is running low, and the driver must refill the tank in order to continue driving the vehicle.

If you own a diesel vehicle with an SCR system, it is important to regularly check the Adblue level and top up the tank as needed, as failure to do so can result in reduced engine performance and emissions, and in some cases, the vehicle may not start or may enter into a reduced power mode.
We sell Adblue locally at our yard in Otley, but can arrange for bulk deliveries to be delivered nationwide.
